We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season with their friends and family and a fantastic time ringing in the New Year! The Dojo (as of Monday, 1/2) is back open and on regular schedule! If you had any private lessons scheduled during the holiday break, your/your child's instructor will reschedule it with you when you're next in the Dojo.
If you haven't checked it out already, please see our Dojo Holiday Newsletter from last month, which includes a list of important dates in our 2017 Calendar of Events.
Dr. Martin Luther King Day is Monday, January 16th, and the Dojo will remain OPEN and on regular schedule.
One last bit of news from 2016: Our December 2016 Student of the Month was Jack L.! Jack is a White Belt from our Lil Dragons class. Awesome job!
Who will be the first SOTM in 2017?
This month is all about GOALS. We'll be speaking with our students and parents about their training goals for 2017 so we can create a game plan to help you or your child reach your full potential as a Martial Artist, while also working towards achieving goals for focus, stress-relief, behavior, fitness, and self confidence. Take a moment to write down some goals that you have for yourself or speak with your child about short and long-term goals that they would like to work towards. Our Instructors can then tweak and tailor your private training to help you achieve those goals more efficiently.
If you're on Instagram, take part in our GOALS Challenge by tagging @ussdsc and using hashtag #DojoGoals in a post showing and telling what your Martial Arts training goals are for 2017. We'll repost our favorites! Goals can be short or long-term and can be anywhere from improving certain techniques and flexibility, to fitness and nutrition, to improving attendance and practicing more in between lessons at the Dojo. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
Speaking of goals, our first Belt Tests of 2017 are coming up at the beginning of next month! The Teen/Adult Belt Test is scheduled for Friday, February 3rd, and the Kids Belt Test will be on Saturday, February 4th. If you or your child will be ready for the February Test, you will receive an email early next week, and the test invitations will be ready for pick-up at the front desk in the Dojo.
It's time to shake off the holiday haze and get back to training like champions! We're off to a great start so far, and looking forward to what the New Year has in store for us... And more importantly, what WE have in store for the New Year! See you in the Dojo.
