May the Force Be With You

.... Because we are going to need it to get through this last month of school! We also have tons going on at the Dojo this month and next, from Belt Tests to BBQs to Tournaments, so please read on to let it all sink in!

First off, CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who competed in the Spring 2017 Dojo Tournament! It was a great day of competition, and a fantastic show of sportsmanship, effort, and perseverance from all of our students. At the bottom of this post we will list the Official Tournament Results and you can Click Here to see photos from the event on our Facebook page.

Another "Congratulations" goes out to our April 2017 Student of the Month, Lynnox B.! Way to go on your first win, Lynnox! (Photo coming soon)

The Teen/Adult Belt Test is this Friday, 5/5 at 6:00 pm sharp. Please keep an eye out for an email with instructions and reminders going out to everyone who is scheduled to test for their new ranks this weekend. There will be no Teens or Adults Kempo Group Classes this Friday.

The Kids Belt Test is this Saturday, 5/6 at 11:00 am sharp. We'll be sending an email out these students as well to let you know what time parents can come back to view the final portion of the Test.

To break up the intensity of Tournaments and Belt Tests (and due to the earlier-than-usual end of the school year), we've moved our annual Summer Showdown Dojo BBQ to Saturday, May 20th from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Come by for some meat and hotdogs hot off the grill, games for the kids, raffle prizes, music, and the presentation of our Student of the Year Awards. Kids 12 and under are FREE and adults are just $5 when you RSVP by Friday, 5/12 (Food Wristbands will be $10/person at the door, so please be sure and RSVP!). This is a great way to help kick off our summer training and come together as a team before we head out to the USSD Grand Championship Tournament in June.

The Dojo will be closed for all Martial Arts training on Monday, 5/29 in observance of Memorial Day. If you have a lesson scheduled for that day, your Instructor will reschedule it with you for a convenient time.

And finally, On Saturday, 6/3, Team San Clemente will head up to Santiago Canyon College in Orange to participate in the USSD Grand Championship Tournament, where students will have the opportunity to compete in Sparring and Katas events against students from other USSD studios across California, Nevada, and Utah. If you are interested in competing, please see your Instructor. Also, please note that we do not recommend that our students compete in the "Open Kata" or "Group Kata" events as we do not see any real benefit to our students' training for the added cost. We will have more info about the USSD Grand Championship Tournament coming soon, along with a link to register.

This summer is going to be action-packed with Belt Tests, The Ninja Olympics, and of course, Ninja Camp 2017 and the Ninja Sleepover ! Keep an eye out for our Summer Newsletter coming soon with all of the details. Have a great month of May and we'll see you in the Dojo!
