No June Gloom Over Here

I. Cannot. Believe. It. Is. Summer. Already.

But I can't say I'm not totally stoked about it either! Summertime is always a fun time at the Dojo and we've got lots of cool stuff coming up.

But first things first! Congratulations to our May 2017 Student of the Month, Stone V.! Keep up the great work, Stone! (Photo coming soon.)

Final reminder: This Saturday (6/3) is the USSD Grand Championship Tournament at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, where our students will have the opportunity to compete against students from Dojos across SoCal, Nevada, and Utah in Sparring and Forms. If you would like to compete but have not registered yet, Click Here to go to USSD's online registration page.

If you have already registered but have questions, please call or text (949) 361-9111 with your questions or see your instructor on Friday at the Dojo. To view the Tournament divisions and events schedule, Click Here.

Since the Instructors will all be in Orange for the Tournament, the Dojo will be closed for all Martial Arts classes on Saturday, June 3rd (CrossFit will be open and on regular schedule). If you have a lesson scheduled for that day, your instructor will reschedule it with you for a more convenient date and time.

As of June 1st, we have a few spots left in our Ninja Summer Camp, which will be held on Wednesday, August 2nd through Friday, August 4th from 8:00 am to noon. Ninja Camp is a fun and exciting opportunity for kids ages 5 to 12 (existing students and non-students are welcome) to learn how to identify and stop bullying behaviors, and how to recognize, avoid, and escape from "Stranger Danger" situations, both in a fun, positive, challenging, and safe environment.

For more information or to get started with our online registration, Click Here. To speak with an Instructor directly or to get on the waiting list once all spots have been filled, call (949) 361-9111.

All summer long we'll be adding a little extra excitement to our kids classes with the 2017 Ninja Olympics! Each week of summer will have a different training theme, ending with a tournament-style challenge every Friday. The different themes and competition dates are:

Speed - June 12-16

Balance - June 19-23

Kicking - June 26-30

Flexibility - July 10-14

Grappling - July 17-21

Katas (Forms) - July 24-28

Sparring - August 7-11

The top 3 finishers in each challenge will win Ninja Dollars which can be used to buy special patches for their Gi. Since these challenges will be incorporated into regularly-scheduled Lil Dragons and Juniors group classes, students do not have to sign up or come in for any additional training in order to participate.

And along with the sunshine and warm weather, we have a few Dojo summer reminders:

If you plan on heading out of town and you'll be missing any group or private training, please let your instructor know ahead of time so we can reschedule the missed lessons with you for another day.

If you're spending time at the beach or in the sandbox, please be sure to wash all of the sand from your skin and hair (and dump the sand from your shoes!) before you head to the Dojo. Training on sandy mats is not comfortable or safe for anyone, so please help us keep our Dojo clean.

Let's make it another great summer of Martial Arts, and we'll see you in the Dojo!
