Knockout November

Oh, you thought it was "No Shave November"? That's cute. We have a BUNCH coming up at the Dojo as we creep closer to the end of the year, so keep your hands up so November doesn't knock you out.

But first... A recap! We had a freakishly fun time at our annual Halloween Ninja Night, with costume contests, "Zombies Vs. Survivors" Bunker Ball, and beating the candy out of a very scary clown piñata! Check out the rest of the photos on our Facebook page by Clicking Here.

A big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to our students who tested for their next Brown Stripe at USSD headquarters this past weekend. This is the first time in a long time that we've had such a big group test at once. Great work Cameron G., Ryan Ash., Garrett W., Zack W., and the one-and-only Mr. Jose!

We also had our own Adult/Teen Belt Test last Friday and Kids Belt Test on Saturday. Congratulations to everyone who worked hard and earned your new ranks! You're one step closer to Black Belt. We'll have more photos coming soon to our Facebook and Instagram.

October 2018 Student of the Month, Evie E.!

Just a heads-up: The Dojo will be OPEN and on regular schedule on Veterans Day (Monday, 11/12). Many students have school/work off that day, so if you plan on being out of town, please let your instructor know in advance so we can reschedule your private lesson.

Registration for the USSD Orange County Tournament has begun. This year's tournament will be held at Santa Ana College on Saturday, December 8th. The cost is $45 to compete in one event, or $60 to compete in two events (we recommend that our students compete in Sparring and Katas events only).

To register, Click Here to head over to the USSD website. The Event Guide/schedule of events has not yet been posted, but they should hopefully have that up soon, at which point we'll send the link out to our students.

This will be the last opportunity for our students to compete in 2018, so especially if you missed the last Dojo Tournament, or if you are trying to test your skills to see if you'll be ready to test for your next rank early next year, you should try and make it if possible (Tournament competition is an important part of your Martial Arts training, although competing in any one tournament is not mandatory in order to progress to the next rank. We recommend that students compete at least 2-3 times per year).

Happy Thanksgiving! The Dojo will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 22nd. If you have a private lesson scheduled for that day, please see your instructor to reschedule.

Coming up next month we have our Dojo Family Potluck the week after the Tournament to add some cheer to the end of a great (and crazy!) year at the Dojo. We'll send out our 2018 Holiday Newsletter, as well as a 2019 Calendar of Events soon, so stay tuned.

Have a great month, and we'll see you in the Dojo!
