May Mania

How did we get to May already? Summer is right around the corner, but we've still got plenty in store for you before Spring is up. Take a look below at what's coming up at the Dojo this month.

First off, congratulations to all of our students who competed in the Las Vegas Tournament last month! Despite only having a 10-person team, we still took home 3rd place overall! Check out our Instagram for more photos and videos from the event.

Another "Congratulations" goes out to our April 2019 Student of the Month, Shane D.! Keep up the great work! (photo coming soon)

This Friday (May3rd) is our Teen/Adult Belt Test, so there will be no Teens (6:00 pm) or Adults (7:00 pm) group classes this Friday.

The Kids Belt Test is this Saturday (May 4th) at 11:00 am. If you or your child is scheduled to test this week, you should receive an email soon with important testing information and reminders.

The next Belt Tests are tentatively schedule for August 9th and 10th. Speak with your/your child's instructor if you have any questions about your goal Test date, or what you can do to help yourself r your child prepare for an upcoming Belt Test.

Coming up on Saturday, June 8th is the USSD Orange County Grand Championship Tournament at Santiago Canyon College in Orange. Students of all ages and ranks can compete in Point-Sparring and Katas (Forms) events, which are split up into divisions based on age and rank (even White Belts can compete!). As soon as the online registration is up, we'll send out an email with the link and the details.

Tournament competition is an important part of your Martial Arts training, although competing in any one specific tournament is not mandatory in order to progress to the next rank. We recommend that students compete at least 3-4 times per year. The next opportunity for our students to compete will be at our In-House Dojo Tournament in September.

Happy Mother's Day! All of our Dojo Mamas are invited to try one free week of Martial Arts group training, or one free CrossFit Fundamentals class on us during the month of May! Speak with an instructor to schedule.

We're putting together a Demo Team to perform at our Summer Showdown BBQ on Saturday, June 15th! Our first practice will begin in mid-May. All ages and ranks may participate and the only requirements to join are that students remember their forms and techniques and can make it to all of the scheduled practices, which are tentatively scheduled for Tuesdays at 4:30/5:00 pm and Saturdays at 8:30 am. Demo Team members will also receive a special patch, and may have the opportunity to perform at other events. We'll send out an email soon with the complete practice and performance schedule. Click Here to see one of our old school performances!

Bully Blockers Ninja Camp Registration continues this month until all spots have been filled. Students can get a form to sign up at the Dojo, and non-students can sign up online through the City of San Clemente's Summer Recreation Programs by Clicking Here (listed under "Martial Arts"). Space is limited for this fun, super active, and possibly life-saving summer camp! Click Here to learn more about Bully Blockers.

Happy Memorial Day! The Dojo is closed on Monday, May 27th for all group and private training. If you have a private lessons scheduled for that day, your instructor will reschedule it with you for another time.

Have a great month and we'll see you in the Dojo!
